Put it all in the genre blender and set it to pop.

For Royal Oak, that’s been the motto over the last five years. The Vancouver alt-pop band—made up of childhood friends Austin Ledyard, Brayson Wong, Myles Philpott, and Michael Kragelj—have coined an eclectic sound that combines 80s guitars with 808s; EDM-inspired synths with pop punk-influenced melodies.

This everything-and-the-kitchen-sink approach has culminated in 2025’s We’re All Just Trying to Figure It Out, a 12- track album that swerves between sonic styles and moods, telling stories of love and loss as it does. For Royal Oak, this record defines the relationships in your twenties: the good and the bad, the friends and the lovers, the ones you’ll never forget and the ones you wish you could.
